About Us
History
Since the 2000s, the community of Nyzhnie Selyshche has set a goal to build an active and inclusive society through connections and joint work.
The idea of creating the “Guest House Sargo Rigo” arose within this goal. As more and more projects were taking place, the need for a place to stay and rest became increasingly important. Therefore, it was decided to transform the old school building (mentioned as early as the 1900s) into an open space for development and knowledge exchange (workshops, residencies, camps) with capacity for 24 people. And when we are not hosting our own projects, we welcome groups that share our ideas and spirit.
The Guest House Sargo Rigo is a social project of the Longo mai cooperative in Nyzhnie Selyshche. The reconstruction was supported by the Switzerland–Transcarpathia/Ukraine Network Association (NESTU). It is managed by the organization “Molotok.”
Related projects
Over the past years, a number of successful initiatives have been created in Nyzhnie Selyshche and at the local House of Culture: the children’s theater studio Chiga-Biga, the music band Hudaki Village Band, the theater festival Ptakh, film camps, a music festival, parties, volleyball and pétanque tournaments.
In addition to cultural events, the village is home to the cooperative Longo Mai, which grows apples for juice production and supports social and cultural projects, along with a dozen other enterprises that are also very important.

Jürgen Kreftner
A person who worked for many years on creating the SargoRigo project, handling everything from securing funding to choosing curtain colors. Jürgen also plays in the Hudaki Village Band, which you can sometimes hear performing here.
Tetiana Belousova
Project coordinator at Sargo Rigo. All accommodation arrangements go through her. Tanya will gladly assist with planning schedules and trips. She is also a theater director working with the Chiga-Biga theater studio, and when needed, she conducts trainings for our guests.

Olia Kostrets
Our heart and head cook at SargoRigo. Aunt Olia not only cooks delicious meals but also makes sure everyone is well fed. Her special talent — within a day she already knows everyone’s name!
Oleksandr Lypchei
The visionary behind the Sargo Rigo project. It was his idea that initiated the reconstruction of the old school building, which otherwise could have eventually turned into ruins.
Olha Zubyk
The person who shows up whenever help is needed! You may not often see Olha at SargoRigo, but when Tanya is away, she is the one welcoming guests. She also makes wonderful handmade soap and delicious Longo Mai juice!
Misha Shutko
Our jack-of-all-trades! Misha is the one who makes SargoRigo warm and cozy. He’ll add firewood, pump the water, and most importantly, quietly keeps everything in order 😉
